Benefits of Cosmetic Teeth Whitening
The teeth whitening and bleaching kits available for purchase in stores may be tempting, as they seem to be a simple and economical way to brighten your smile. However, the attention and professional methods that our doctors provide is worthwhile to ensure a safe, effective, and complication-free whitening treatment.
Professional teeth whitening offers a variety of benefits:
- Cost-effective way to dramatically improve your smile
- Can help you appear younger
- Does not require a large investment of your time
- Advanced methods offer reduced tooth sensitivity
In-Office Dental Whitening In Mountain View
The quickest way to brighter, whiter teeth is through an in-office whitening treatment. We offer the Sinsational Smile® system, which only takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Before your whitening treatment at our Mountain View dental office begins, you will receive a regular dental cleaning to remove plaque and debris from your teeth. Next, silicone trays that have been pre-filled with whitening solution will be placed on your upper and lower teeth. The trays are comfortable, and you will be able to relax during your procedure.
LED lights will be used to activate the gel, which whiten teeth at a faster rate. Once your treatment is complete, the gel will be cleaned from your teeth. Most patients notice a significant improvement after one session, but you may want to complete more than one treatment to achieve your level of desired whiteness.
You can schedule whitening treatments on a routine basis, to maintain your results and periodically renew your smile. With Sinsational Smile®, we will provide you with a whitening pen that you can take home and use after your procedure, to extend your brighter smile!
Take-Home Dental Whitening
If you choose take-home whitening, our doctors offer Opalescence®, one of the most popular teeth whitening systems on the market.
Our dentists will create a set of custom bleaching trays for you. Since impressions of your teeth are taken for an exact fit, the trays fit and function better than the commercial kits you may find in drug stores.
The custom trays are also better at keeping the gel in the trays, to avoid getting gel on your gums, which can cause irritation. As with in-office whitening, you will receive a regular dental cleaning prior to treatment.
To use the take-home kit, simply fill the trays with gel and wear them for a prescribed duration. Most patients achieve the shade of whiteness they want in two weeks. Afterward, you can use your custom kit to touch up your smile whenever you like!
The Best Candidates For Cosmetic Teeth Whitening
Whitening your teeth is a safe and non-invasive procedure, and most patients who would like to have whiter teeth are candidates for either in-office or take-home whitening. If, however, you have any oral health conditions such as gum disease or tooth decay, these will need to be addressed prior to whitening your teeth.
During your initial consultation, our doctors will discuss any restorative treatments or preventive procedures you may need. If you have deep, intrinsic stains on your teeth, a whitening treatment may not be strong enough. In these cases, they may recommend a different cosmetic dental treatment, such as porcelain veneers or dental crowns.
